Account & Billing
How long is the free trial?
7 days with full access to all features. No credit card required.
How much does TraderVault cost?
- Monthly: $30/month
- Annual: $288/year (save 20%)
What happens when my trial ends?
You'll receive email reminders before it ends. After expiration: - You can still log in and view your data - You cannot add new trades - Subscribe to regain full access
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Go to Settings > Billing
- Click Cancel Subscription
- You retain access until the end of your billing period
Do you offer refunds?
No, when you cancel you will receive the remainder amount of time left in the billing cycle.
Is there a discount for annual billing?
Yes! Pay $288/year instead of $360 ($30 × 12) and save 20%.
Trade Journaling
Do I have to log every trade?
We recommend it, but it's your choice. More data = better insights. Even logging your significant trades helps identify patterns.
Can I import trades from a CSV?
Yes! Go to Settings > Import and download our CSV template. Fill in your trades and upload.
Why is my P&L showing wrong?
Check: 1. Entry/exit prices are correct 2. Share quantity is accurate 3. Side (long/short) is set correctly 4. For shorts: Entry should be higher than exit for profit
How do I track options trades?
Currently, TraderVault is optimized for stock/equity trades. Options support with Greeks tracking is on our roadmap.
Can I track crypto?
Yes, enter crypto symbols like BTC, ETH, etc. P&L is calculated the same as stocks.
Broker Connections
Is connecting my broker safe?
Yes. We use SnapTrade, a SOC 2 certified service. Your credentials are never stored in TraderVault. We have read-only access to positions and cannot execute trades.
Why can't I connect my broker?
Common reasons: - Broker is under maintenance - Two-factor authentication required at broker - Connection expired, need to reconnect - Broker not yet supported
My positions didn't import. Why?
- The position may already exist in your journal
- Try clicking Refresh to re-sync
- Check if you selected the correct account
Can TraderVault execute trades?
No. We only have read-only access to view your positions. We cannot place orders, transfer funds, or modify your account.
Journals & Organization
How many journals can I create?
Unlimited journals on all plans.
Can I move trades between journals?
Currently, trades cannot be moved. You would need to delete and re-create in the other journal. We're working on a transfer feature.
What's the difference between journal types?
- Live: Real money trades
- Paper: Practice/simulation trades
- Backtest: Historical strategy testing
The type is for your organization only - calculations work the same.
Should I use multiple journals or tags?
Both have their place: - Multiple journals: Truly separate accounts/strategies - Tags: Categorize within the same journal
Example: Separate journals for "Schwab" and "Alpaca" brokers, tags for "momentum" and "breakout" strategies within each.
Analytics & Reports
How is win rate calculated?
Win Rate = Winning Trades / Total Closed Trades × 100
A trade is a "win" if P&L > 0. Trades at exactly $0 P&L are not counted as wins.
What's a good profit factor?

Why doesn't my dashboard match my broker account?
- Only closed trades affect P&L stats
- Open positions show unrealized P&L separately
- Synced trades may need to be manually closed in journal
- Dividends, fees not tracked
Can I export my data?
Yes! Export trades to CSV from the Journal page. PDF reports coming soon.
Email Notifications
What emails will I receive?
- Daily trading summary (optional)
- Weekly performance report (optional)
- Price alerts (when triggered)
- Billing notifications (required)
- Security alerts (required)
How do I stop daily/weekly emails?
- Go to Settings (gear icon in sidebar)
- Scroll to the Email Notifications section
- Toggle off "Daily Summary" and/or "Weekly Report"
- Changes save automatically
Emails are going to spam. What do I do?
Add trader@tradervault.io to your contacts or whitelist. For company email, ask IT to whitelist our domain.
Security
How do I enable two-factor authentication?
- Go to Settings > Security
- Click Enable MFA
- Scan QR code with authenticator app
- Enter code to confirm
- Save backup codes
I lost my MFA device. How do I log in?
Use one of your backup codes, or contact support@tradervault.io to verify your identity and reset MFA.
How is my data protected?
- All data encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
- Data encrypted at rest
- Regular security audits
- SOC 2 compliant infrastructure
Can I delete my account and all data?
Yes. Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
Technical Issues
The page isn't loading. What should I do?
- Try refreshing the page
- Clear browser cache
- Try a different browser
- Check status.tradervault.io for outages
Charts aren't displaying correctly.
- Ensure JavaScript is enabled
- Try a different browser (Chrome recommended)
- Disable ad blockers temporarily
My session keeps expiring.
This is for security. Sessions expire after inactivity. To stay logged in longer: 1. Enable "Remember me" when logging in 2. Check that cookies are enabled
